KRAYEL
Born and raised in North
Dakota, Kevin sold his first painting at fourteen and then presented his first one-man
art show only three years later. already, Already, when most teenagers are worrying
about cars and girls (or boys), Kevin had art touring with the Governor's Art Exhibit
and had already garnered a myriad of state, regional and national awards for his
artistic excellence.
He left North Dakota and all
that snow in 1979 and moved to California and are we are glad to have him! His first
solo show in the Golden state was nearly sold out and his reputation as a star on
the rise took off. His work can now be found in private collections all over the
world and his internet gallery receives over six thousand visitors per week. Krayel
art has been featured on music CD jackets, greeting cards and gallery walls. He has
received numerous awards including The Golden Plate Award for Excellence by The American
Academy of Achievement.
Whew! This is one seriously talented artist! He established his own studio, Krayel
Art Studio, with the limited edition release of The Celebrity Series, which now are
only available as charitable donations from Krayel Art Studio to fund raising events.
In 1993, Kevin spearheaded The Black & White Underwear Series, a project created
to bring national attention and financial assistance to the nonprofit art organization
dedicated to raising AIDS awareness through film, theater, music and the fine arts.
Kevin later served on their Board Of Directors researching projects for development.
It's great to know that a celebrated artist like Kevin's is still motivated to give
back to their community and fight for the causes of our times.
The controversial
and critically acclaimed Saint Series depicts the Catholic Saints interpreted in
a sensual light , and can be found all over the country in churches, monasteries
and private collections. Although Kevin admits he has no Catholic affiliation himself,
nonetheless clergy members comprise some of his most avid collectors. The commissioned
piece, "Surrender (St. Francis of Assisi Surrendering the Material World)"
marks the ninth installment of the collection and is considered to be one of his
most accomplished paintings. His latest works are an enthralling symbiosis of contrasting
styles that evoke the artist's continued evolution as a compelling force in the world
of art.
